Happy St. Paddy's Day!

It's my favorite time o' the year, the salt beef stewin' in the pot, the praties are boilin' on the stove, the Guinness flowin' from the keg.

Okay I'm just kidding. I don't like Guinness, my heritage be damned, it's too much of an acquired taste and I don't have the time or money to acquire it.

LOVE corned beef and taters, though. And the color green.

Augh the kitchen smells so good. What's your favorite foods associated with holidays?

Grunge Rainbow Foils

So another Pinterest find has inspired me, and now I can't find it to show you the original (don't you hate that?). Grr.

How to achieve this look:

Paint nails black (I used Sinful Colors' Black on Black)

Apply foil adhesive on the top 3/4 of the nail.

Apply the foil (it's okay if it's not perfect, holes will make it look better)

Take a fan brush, and brush upwards, creating rough edges along the sharp line created by the edge of the foil.

For the rainbow, I used two separate foils from Dollar Nail Art: Citrus Flash and Wildberry Flash to create the rainbow effect. 

The adhesive reacts to certain topcoats, so don't use anything that's fast drying. I used Revlon's Extra Life No Chip Topcoat and it doesn't seem to react like the others.

Rainbow Sugar Spun Nails FAIL

So while looking for inspiration, I came across all these Sugar Spun manis, and they looked SUPER CUTE!!! So I went and watched a tutorial and decided to try them. Well, as you can see, I failed. Miserably. I just couldn't get my polish to string. So I eventually gave up and just dragged my toothpick across the polish in my nails, creating the effect you see in the pictures. Still super cute, I've been wearing them for a couple of days.

On my accent nail, I used a tiny straw dipped in my colors and just layered them randomly. Again, super cute.

My base color is Pure Ice Black Rage. I used a Color Workshop for the red, Sinful Colors' Cloud Nine for orange, a nameless mini I got at a garage sale for the yellow, Wet'N'Wild's Fergie Glowstick, NYC's In A New York Minute Water Street Blue, and Orly's Charged Up for the purple. I used NYC's Wild Shine topcoat.

I really do love these, even though they aren't what I wanted. Isn't it awesome how that turns out sometimes?
